Nicolas Saboly

French poet and composer

Nicolas Saboly (Occitan: Micolau Sabòli, IPA: [mikuˈlaw saˈbɔli]; 30 January 1614 – 26 July 1675) was a poet, composer and choirmaster from what was then part of the Papal States. He composed many Christmas carols in Provençal Occitan which form one of the monuments of poetry in that language and have been continuously republished until the present day.
